The Lanvin event at
Barneys was equal parts stand up comedy routine and high fashion runway show.
Alber Elbaz brought his trademark boxy for an in-store fashion show, which was
hosted by a glowing, gorgeous Uma Thurman. Twenty-six looks were presented, all
feminine, all frisky and all fun.
Elbaz can work a trunk show like no one's
business. Like Bill Blass before him, and like Michael Kors today, he loves
reaching out and meeting his women. "I used to say women are strong, but
men are powerful. Strength is internal. But women today are strong and
powerful, and that's a deadly combination," he laughed. "That's the
women I'm dressing." But more importantly, the customers love him too. And
it was a little show like this one that proved exactly why women all around the
world love his designs and him as a designer.

Karl Lagerfeld is designing Helicopters
Is it just us or is
it really just that everyday we open up WWD we find the designer Karl Lagerfeld
is taking on a new odd project?! We're really beginning to think Karl Lagerfeld
is a robot deep inside. Well, going back to
the topic, Karls latest endeavor is designing a helicopter. He’s been tapped by
Anglo-Italian company AgustaWestland to makeover both the interiors and
exteriors of their VIP helicopters, so we can expect to see a chopper with Lagerfeld‘s
face on it hitting the skies soon. The company said Lagerfeld’s “creativity and
sophisticated style” would allow it to “introduce a new, limited edition,
customized solution” for its growing customer base–and would no doubt attract a
certain kind of fashion-y clientele. AgustaWestland also
noted that while the collaboration will initially focus on the AW139
twin-turbine helicopter, “the partnership may be extended to other commercial
models.” And at the rate Karl is going with these collaborations we’re sure
they’ll have a whole fleet in no time. We can’t wait to see the helicopters
interior and exterior when the remarkable designer is done designing them!!

Prada Clothe A Computer Game
Check out this odd collaboration between the revered Italian brand and computer game Final Fantasy XIII-2. For its 25th anniversary the virtual cast of one of the gaming world's most popular franchises has been given the best ever birthday present courtesy of Arena Homme+. They'll be honoring the pages of the magazine's next issue in an amazing array of modified designer threads.
Arena Homme+'s editor, Max Pearmain, revealed that direction and
escapism were the key themes for the spread and confessed, "Having a
visually stunning videogame franchise such as Final Fantasy work alongside us
and a leading fashion brand like Prada to create something so unique is
incredible". Yoshinori Kitase, who produced the latest version of the
game, agreed saying the images were 'vibrant' and dubbed the project 'a very
exciting opportunity'. No wonder, it's rather a withdrawal from the norm for
the hardy sims so familiar to gamers worldwide!
Catch all the outfits
in Arena Homme+ which is out on April 12th.

Men’s Yves Saint Laurent Logo Rubber Loafers
Yves Saint Laurent
latest footwear release for men comes in the form of the brand’s new eccentric Cobalt Show Loafers. Designed with the
unique YSL aesthetic, the loafers are crafted with a rubber
upper and outsole. The YSL logo
is embossed on the tongue of the shoes. We honestly think the blue one's will look great after a long day a the beach with kakis and white unbuttoned shirt and a six pack maybe..

Starbucks Amsterdam " The Bank " Concept Store
Starbucks has been making significant
changes to break creative boundaries with its architectural advances
and build-outs. The latest concept store develops out of Amsterdam and is being
touted under the moniker, “The Bank.” Designed under the direction of its
Dutch-born Concept Store Design Director, Liz Muller, The Bank boasts a
less-than-modest floor plan that spans 4,500 square feet and is made from a
range of locally-sourced and sustainable materials. Gathering its name from the
former historic bank vault, the interior of the shop serves as a testing ground
for the coffee giant to test out new brews, blends and concoctions within an
equally as experimental environment.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a coffee shop like this down the street? or in your local mall?
YES PLEASE !
