Designer of the Week : Nancy Gonzalez

Luxury handbag designer Nancy Gonzalez has been delivering her decadent glamorous handbags since 1998. Gonzalez’s handbags

are described as chic, high quality and trendy. The designer sees the importance of luxury and style even in a recession, and how passion and courage are the most important materials needed for success.

Gonzalez’s attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship are rooted in her Colombian heritage, a culture that values color, passion and fun just as much as it reverences its artistic past. The craftsmen who detailed Pre-Columbian gold and ceramics are her constant inspiration, and she strives to meet the same top standards as their “incredible handwork.”
Anyone who’s ever seen a Nancy Gonzalez handbag up close can appreciate the craftsmanship and detail that go into each piece, and that kind of quality commands a steep price (most bags retail in the $1,500 - $4,000 range).

LFW: Twenty8Twelve Ready-to-wear Fall 2012

Twenty8Twelve's Fall collection was inspired by the sixties-era mockumentary Primitive London and Pop artist Allen Jones, among other things. A pink micro-bouclé shift had a peplum that zipped all the way off, and a pair of cool seamed skinny trousers in the same material wore like neoprene leggings. Collarless V-neck jackets were well tailored and not so basic, and a knit waffle-weave skater dress with a gold zip up the back seemed like the kind of thing you might find at Carven. In all, it was direction with promise.

LFW: Moschino Cheap & Chic Ready-to-wear Fall 2012

Moschino Cheap and Chic’s collection assumed the general outlines of a fifties-era lady's wardrobe, but in patchwork lace, Muppet-y rainbow fur, candy-bright pleated chiffons, and what looked like a fancy silk gazar printed with scattered makeup pots. There were typical wink-nudge moments of visual wit, like the single black-sequined mustache on a shift printed with lipsticked faces.

NYFW: Front Row Celebrities

What we loved most out of our celebrities front row finds is Nicki Minaj sitting aside to the divine Anna Wintour!

NYFW: Street Style

Despite the gloomy cold weather we have seen a lot of colors this season, along the streets of the big apple. These are our top favorite looks that we have found.

NYFW: Rachel Zoe Ready-to-wear Fall 2012

Rachel Zoe Hollywood’s most sought-after celebrity stylist, producer to her own reality show “The Rachel Zoe Project,” style consultant for , overseeing the Rachel Zoe QVC line, and fronting on “Ask a Stylist” on, not to mention launching her new line The Rachel Zoe Collection became America’s favorite stylist/ designer.
A graduate to the runway after several seasons of presentations. In her enthusiasm, Zoe showed 46 looks. While she could've made her point about the glamorous late-sixties London style of Mick and Marianne in fewer, there were some gems in the mix, starting with the white jacquard pantsuit and faux fur coat she opened with.

NYFW: Marchesa Ready-to-wear Fall 2012

The Marchesa ready to wear collection was inspired by late-nineteenth-century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau's A Soul Brought to Heaven, which depicts two angels spiriting a young woman through the clouds. This darker side could be seen in the dresses worn over skeleton-embroidered tulle bodysuits, the laser-cut black leather dress (with nary a sparkle or puff), and the engineered embroideries that traced the anatomy. Those elements lent the collection some invaluable bite.
